Members of the New Canaan Police Department traveled to Ansonia at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, to take Bridgeport resident Jose Rivera into custody on an active arrest warrant for larceny and burglary.
According to police, on July 10 last year, a local resident reported that an iPhone had been stolen from a vehicle parked on Old Studio Road. The theft took place during the day and Rivera was identified as a suspect by investigators who reviewed surveillance footage from the home.
Police said that in the video, Rivera was caught on camera entering the truck of a landscaping company and placing something in his pocket. The investigation into that incident led to an arrest warrant for Rivera, which was executed over the weekend.
Rivera was arrested and is being held in lieu of $10,000 bond on the larceny and burglary charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday to respond to the charges.
